Artificial intelligence can speed up and improve Alzheimer's diagnosis: Study
Artificial intelligence (AI) can diagnose Alzheimer's disease faster and improve prognosis, a new study has revealed. Alzheimer's disease is a neurological disorder in which the death of brain cells causes memory loss and cognitive decline. Scientists at the UK's University of Sheffield's Neuroscience Institute examines how the routine use of AI in healthcare could help to relieve the time and economic impact that common neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, put on the National Health Service (NHS). The main risk factor for many neurological disorders is age, and with populations worldwide living longer than ever before, the number of people with a neurodegenerative disease is expected to hit unprecedented levels. The number of people living with Alzheimer's alone is predicted to treble to 115 million by 2050, posing a real challenge for the health system, the study noted.

The partnership launched Thursday after a virtual meeting between national technology ministers. It was nearly two years after the leaders of Canada and France announced they were forming a group to guide the responsible adoption of AI based on shared principles of "human rights, inclusion, diversity, innovation and economic growth."

Top 7 Facebook Groups On Artificial Intelligence You Can Join
In the ever-changing artificial intelligence landscape, developers need to embrace every possible way of keeping oneself updated with the latest developments. And one of the easiest ways to stay abreast is to be associated with AI communities on various platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit, among others. While such groups help in keeping you informed, one should not limit to just reading about the latest developments. Instead, developers should engage in sharing ideas and contributing to the community. AIM brings you a curated list of a popular and most active Facebook group related to Artificial Intelligence that will bring value in your professional journey. The Artificial Intelligence & Deep Learning group has more than 360,000 members who mostly post about news and the research related to AI.
New 'OpenAI' Artificial Intelligence Group Formed By Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, And More
In the last few years, the world of artificial intelligence has mainly been dominated by large internet companies with huge computing infrastructures like Google and Facebook, or research universities like MIT or Stanford. The non-profit research firm is backed by heavy hitters like co-chairs Elon Musk (of SpaceX and Tesla fame), Y Combinator's Sam Altman, as well as investor Peter Thiel (who worked with Musk at PayPal). They claim to have garnered a billion dollars in private funding, from people like Thiel and Amazon Web Services. "We believe AI should be an extension of individual human wills and, in the spirit of liberty, as broadly and evenly distributed as is possible safely," OpenAI writes in its first blog post, published just a few moments ago. The goal? Make the scope of A.I less narrow.

The Dawn of Artificial Intelligence
WASHINGTON - U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), chairman of the Subcommittee on Space, Science, and Competitiveness, will convene a hearing on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. on "The Dawn of Artificial Intelligence."
